Any help here folks will greatly appreciated.

I pulled the motor and trans out of my other car and was wonder if you all might be able to help me figure out what it is and were it might have come from:

NUMBERS OFF THE TRANS 4 Speed Muncie -
P0E05A
3925661
60N543280

NUMBERS OFF THE MOTOR (Pretty certian it's a 350)
GM 3970010 (from rear of block near bell housing)

That was all I could find on the block. If the is some place I need to look, like me know. The motor is really grease, do I may need to 'de-grease' it some.

Thanks in advance for all and any help.

I can help a little with the Muncie.
P ~ Muncie
0 ~ 1970
E05 ~ May 5
A ~ M20
3925661 ~ main case 70-74 1" bore patent number
60N543280 looks like a VIN derivative of the original car. Not familiar with the "6" but you might check and see if you can find a Buick/Olds/Pontiac site with some info. If other divisions marked theirs like Chevrolet it'd be:
6 ~ Division
0 ~ 1970
N ~ vehicle final assembly plant
543280 ~ last 6 digits of original vehicle.

I did find on one site where Olds was suppose to have a "3" for their division but also found a GTO site that said the 65 GTO trans id started with "30" and 66 started with "40". That could add to confusion if some division used "60".

Found these block casting numbers on Mortec.com
3970010....302.....69....4...Z-28 Camaro
3970010....327.....69....2...Trucks and industrial
3970010....350...69-80...2 or 4

There's a small pad on the front passenger side head area that should have an engine ID code that'll tell what plant made the engine, the date, and a suffix code such as T1025EC. Being a late model block it may also have a VIN derivative as well stamped there - all assuming the block hasn't been decked.

N means Norwood, Ohio, builder of Camaros and Firebirds.

Okay, I found some more number on the motor on the front pad near the passenger side head. The numbers/letters there read as follows:

(small charter set) - 161194220
(larger charter set) - K04 01 CMJ

Thanks for the info so far.

I'm fairly certian that the motor isn't out of a Caddy. When I bought it, the guy told me that he believed that it came out of 1976 Station Wagon and it's a four bolt main. I haven't cracked it open so I don't know about the Mains for sure, But I have bought Chevy 350 parts for it in the past and they fit. I was hoping to get a better line on it as I want to do a upper half rebuild and seal replacements on it with my son.

Thanks for the replies thus far.

Partial vin

I'm fairly certian that the motor isn't out of a Caddy No but that code for the trans shows it was for a Cadillac, that is unless the 6 is something else like a 2 for Pontiac.

The 6 canot be correct or is a mistamp, No Cadillac were ever assembled at Norwood.
