Build sheet, protecto plate, original window sticker. Canadian built cars can be verified.

If it has factory air cond that proves it is NOT an LS6.

Build sheet matches cars vin.

Then #'s off of the drivetrain. Futher details of #'s from radiator, alt., dist., fuel pump (note LS6's used 3/8" fuel line), intake, carb, starter, etc. Just get all the #'s. The most important is the block which s/b 3963512 then check the block date as compared to the date the car was built. Next check the stampings on the block to see that it too matches the VIN.

Sometimes the POP (Protecto Plate) remains with the car. Unlikely, but possible. The POP will have more inforamtion like the original owners name, dealerships name, date car sold to new owner, drivetrain (engine type, trans. type, and rear ens type) used on the car.

If you have the buildsheet, POP, #'s are correct to LS6 specs., and dates match build date time frame, then you have a true LS6 #'s car.

keep in mind that back in the 70's and even 80's some people did not appriciate nor understand the importance of true 100% #'s matching. For examlple the smog stuff was torn out, exhaust manifolds were removed in favor of headers.

These items,if not in the car, can be replaced.

Best thing to do is first be sure that there is a buildsheet. Then if it is the correct buildsheet to the car, get all the #'s and post them here. Plenty of guys here that will help you through it.

Hope your on to something.
