I am building a 454 bored .030 over for my 68. I want to be able to run pump gas. this will not be a race car, but I do want it to have a noticable rumble and run good. I am shooting for a 10 to 1 compression ratio. I have a powerglide with a manual valve body, 2500 BTE stall convertor and 3:73 gears What cam grind do I need to consider . I appreciate any and all feedback.

Lunati's Voodoo series #60203 i guess is a good cam to start with from what i hear? or the #60204 with a little more lift/duration,theres a 67 chevelle 396 on youtube with the 60203 at idle and the guy revs it up a little, sounds pretty good

BrettD85 in the NW section ran a 60204 in a 468 and made 411hp at the rear wheels. I think with the 60203 your current converter would do the job, If you want a serious machine go with the 60204 or the 60205

60204 in my 496 made 500 hp dyno, 427 RWHP. With the extra cubes over the 454 it wasn't very "lumpy". In that size engine, I could have easily gone with the 60205. For a 454 the 60204 would be a good street cam.

Thanks for the info. I will probably go with the 60204.

I had the voodoo in a 400 sbc and liked it with a 2500 stall. You will need some extra torque with the tall first gear in the glide anyway. I have a friend with the 60203 in a 454 and it doesn't have much of a rumble.
