Hey all, need some help determining what this chevelle is worth. The owner doesn't seem too knowledgeable about what was done in the past. The car was bought on ebay by the current owner. The current owner is asking $32k.

The owner writes this in the ad:
1967 True Super Sport. NOT a clone!! Restored in 2000. Excellent paint.Body is super straight, no rust. solid. 396 Big block, 4 speed manual tranny. 410 rear gears. New Hayes clutch, line lock,6-A1 ignition, edelbrock
performer 2-0 intake.Holly 750 carb. New lunati cam. Flowmaster w/2' dual exhaust-crossover pipe. Excellent chrome. Aluminum radiator. Original interior. This classic car looks and runs great! Just bought a convertible Super Sport Chevelle so need to sell this classic car to someone who will appreciate it and take care of it.

The owner then provided this from the original ebay ad:

You are bidding on a 1967 Chevelle SS True #138 car. (not a CLONE!) This car has been restored in 2000. The color is the original Nantucket blue metalic with clear coat. The Paint is in excellent condition. Body is super straight, no rust Solid as a rock. It has a 454 Big Block, and a 4 speed manual trans. 12 bolt with 410 rear gears, power disc front brakes with stainless hoses. New Hayes Clutch, line lock, msd 6-Al ignition/rev limiter, edelbrock performer 2-0 intake, Holley 750 carb. New Lunati cam, flowmaster with 2" dual exhaust with crossover pipe. All original interior, in excellent condition. (there is a slight tear in the headliner about 1-2") All chrome is excellent condition. Aluminum radiator, never runs hot even on the hotest days it stays at 190. All gauges and lights are in good working order. Car looks great and runs awesome! It was Dyno tested at 300 hp at the rear wheels/ 400 ftlbs torque Air to gas ratio was perfect. Great Collector Car. Any questions please email or call me I reserve the right to end the auction early due to local advertising.

The VIN is a 138, but it has a 454 in it now. If you look at the sticker on the air cleaner it says its 360HP, which is what the 70's LS5 had right? It's also not clear as to what was actually done in the restoration, aside from a paint job.

Hey Jay, I'm not as well versed as some of the other guys on 67's and their pricing but here's my .02 on this car. For 32K I would expect it to look much better under the hood for starters. I believe the more factory correct it looks under the hood, the more money it can command. Secondly, the underneath could use a clean up as well. Some better pictures would help in getting an overall opinion but what I'm seeing is a decent driver and maybe a 20K car depending on how good the car actually looks in person. I just don't see 32K here, I'm sure some others will be along shortly with their views on it. PS What's up with the drivers side lights, has the car been hit?

The top ad says 396 and the bottom ad says 454.....which is it?

Just for comparison sake, here's a nice looking 67 listed here on TC. Granted the Red one is an automatic and not a 4 speed but I don't see a 12K difference here.

Scott, the motor must be a 454, as the previous owner is the more reliable source.

Mike, that's a good comparison. I completely agree with your first statement about the quality of the engine bay. Does the front driver side light area appear as if there may have been an accident? I notice the chrome trim is appears a bit off.

Alright here's my what for. While the paint may look nice.....Anybody who leaves the engine bay looking like that clearly CUT about 1/2 million other corners in that resto as well. A 454 which dynoes at 300 HP? with a 4.10 rear and a performer 2-0?????? DUDE, run away quickly. I'm willing to bet the motor is put together with bubble gum and popsicle sticks; again; run faster. Paint means Jack, when it starts to bubble up 2 years down the road. That car on it's best day is 18K. Sorry, the current owner didn't know crap when they bought it. At least your asking questions before making offers. good for you. It may run and drive, but I guarantee it's going to need a LOT of work.

Are those leaks on the right side?

With all respect, car looks fairly nice, but I won't make it definate till every bolt and source is seen.

If I were shopping and was looking at any year model I would expect to buy at least $40K worth of work for $32K. That should put you in a car that most every piece was touched in the restoration. The obvious things mentioned send up up glaring red flags that lead you to believe there is so much more that keeps this car from being worth looking at for anywhere close to the asking price.

There are so much nicer cars out there if you are in a position to spend this kind of money. If you push that budget to $35k you can very easily start looking at some cars that are really nice older frame off restos that still look very fresh. Cars like this are not even close.
