Guess if I had the car (vin match) that it came from ,it'd be worth it ,but it's just another 010 block as I see it.

I sold one a couple years ago for $500. It was a shortblock though. Obviously it woul be worth boatloads for the matching car,but it would add value to an original Z missing its original engine.

I agree. A DZ block in good shape can bring big money. Z28s defy logic in the market and even an x code Z (x77 x33) with a non matching DZ block will add $$ to the price. That is what I have seen. Heck even a clone with a DZ will sell for more than a clone with a built SB. I have always been amazed on what the Z28s sell for. I have an X77 and got a few folks still asking me if I want to let it go and its a a roller

That is funny, because it's just a 350 block with a DZ stamp. Any body can get a bare 69 to 80 350 block and stamp DZ on it. The trick is try to find a medium size journal 69 302 crank. That is the fun part to find.

Yeah and your "DZ" stamp would completely look bogus.... that "medium size" journal 302 crank must be a 1 of 1 and extremely rare as I know of only one journal size in 1969 and thats large journal.

I had a complete motor with earlier heads and the correct alum intake and distributor but no carb. V0529DZ on the front pad. I needed money and sold it about 15 years ago fo $1K to a guy that had an original Z-28 that had a 350 in place of its original missing motor. I talked to him this last weekend at our local car show and has it built and sitting on a stand but may never put it in the car because of its value. Oh, and no, he will NOT sell it, I have tried several times over the years!:(

what most of us consider large journal is actually considered medium journal. The 400 small block journal is actually a large journal. the run of the mill 350's would be considered medium, and the early 327, 302's ('67 blocks) early 283's would be considered small journals. and just stamping a 350 block really doesnt work because you'd need a correct date cast into the block. I had a spare 69 4 bolt 350 block. I thought it would be worth something to someone that needed a date correct block. Locally nobody seems to be into the date correct numbers thing. I ended up giving it away. jim

By the way, when I mention medium journal, there are 3 different journal size. Don't forget the 400. It's really a large journal.

He's referring to the same crank you are.
Some consider the 400 crank to be the large journal at 2.65" with the medium journal being 2.45" and the small journal being 2.30".

I sold a new never been ran 1178 302 crank for $904 on ebay a couple yerars ago. The crank was purchased over the counter at GM dealer for a USAC Sprint engine years ago but was never used.Got it free from my father who had it in the corner of the shop all these years.

True... I always wondered why the value was so high, when there were about 20,000 DZ 302 blocks (not to mention all the date correct "350" blocks that could be used)...
