: (Green grass & ) HIGH beams forever!

My high beams are always on when the IGN is in RUN.

If the car is OFF. The lights work normal. Switch turn them on or off. High / low switch works and all lights do what they should.

If the car is on ( Ignition switch set to RUN) then High beams come on regardless of anything else.

Where to start to look?

Thanks for any help in advance.

It would help to know the year and model of the car.

It's obvious some body spliced something into your headlight wiring harness.
Start following the wires and look for a non-factory splice.
under the hood you have two harnesses from the firewall.
One is for the engine. Ignition , alternator, sending units, etc.
Other for the lights.
If the light harness under the hood looks OK, then start looking under the dash.

Move to Canada and you can leave it as is. Daytime running lamps!:D

OK thanks. If I can not find the splice then I guess it's Canada here I come.

Are there any non-stock taps into the "IGN" terminals on the fuseblock?

If so, I'll wager one of them goes down to the high-beam floor switch and taps into the wire feeding out through the bulkhead to the lights.

No luck so far. Found lots of small items and cleaned them up. It seems the car went to aftermarket gauges for awhile and then back.

I also found that the high beams come on automagicly in ACC mode too. (at least they are off in OFF!)

Well you've definitely got +12V (accy & Ign) tied into the high beam circuit somewhere. The wire in question should be a Black/Lt. Green trace, and it starts at the high beam floor switch, goes out through the firewall connector, to the LH lamp, then across to the RH.

The other wires off the floor switch are:
The Blue/Lt. Blue is the feed for the dash indicator.
The Tan is the low beam feeder.

Thanks for the wire color info. The harness looks clean but I have about half of it out. It's a little tight under the power brake booster.

I did find a wire diagram for a '64 (mine is a '65) and I think they should be very close. This car has had it share of wiring mods.

I will tear into her this weekend.

Green Grass refers to an Outlaws song I can not get out of my head.( I wondered when someone might ask about that part.)

"Green Grass and High Tides"

You know the chorus when you hear it.

Thanks again for everyone's help
