704AS2 From what I can tell means-- Black Strato Buckets with Headreasts.

Is there anything to tell if it had a console or not? Is there anything to tell what tranny it came with?

Thanks,
Todd

Nope, sorry. Nothing on the body tag indicates a console or trans type. BTW, the A52 (or nothing) indicates bench seat on 72 Chevelles - A51 indicates bucket seats.

Only a bill-of-sale, build sheet, Protect-O-Plate, or ORIGINAL engine suffix ID code would tell the trans type and only the first two above would tell if it had a console or not. With a bench seat though, obviously no console. If you can post the engine ID code located on the pad in front of the passenger side head, I or someone can tell you what the size/hp/trans type for that engine.

Not the Original Engine.

So the AS2 has no relavance to the Buckets?

Yes

BUT he is also saying the what you see as AS2 is really A52, regular production option code for bench seats (RPO). Car did not come with bucket seats and someone placed them in the car at a later date, if they have buckets today.
