What is the best way to strip a power steering pump and reserve tank?
What color do you use to repaint it, gloss black or semi-gloss black?
Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.

I pluged the fittings in mine and sand blasted. Covered the top good and hand sanded that part. Used semi gloss on it and its holding up fine

I dis-assembled mine, and ordered a complete re-seal kit, then sandblasted all my parts, and painted it with a semi-gloss black after re-assembly. You have to have a powersteering pump pulley puller to remove the pulley though, and also to re-install it.

I pulled mine apart to re-seal it and sanded it down by hand. Then used Rustoleum #7777 satin black. My pump pulley is held on by a nut and keyway, not press-on.

I took mine apart. Sandblasted the resovoir, cleaned the pump itself by hand with some carb cleaner and a wire brush. Then resealed, reassembled and painted it as a unit, pulley included 30% gloss black.

I used some "Gum Cutter" by Berkley. It's carb and choke cleaner. Paint came right off.

I'm a big fan of Rustoleum Satin Black. $4 a can at Home Despot. It's a perfect under-hood finish and it easily touches up at any time later.
