: 66 velle steering shaft to column seal location??

I put in the jeep grand cherokee box and this seal is too low. I cant slide it up or anything but it spins. How is it held on there? :confused:

Brett, there is a sort of slip collar with a clamping bolt that cinches down on the steering shaft. There should also be a coil spring in there behind the seal and slip collar.....I loosened the bolt because I was curious, so that's how I figured it out. These two pictures you may be able to see what I'm talking about. I'll try taking a picture tomorrow so you can see it up close....

Mike, mine isnt like that. 66 and 67 are quite different, I believe 67 is collapsible.

Hmm, I just noticed I have flat spots on 2 sides and you have none....I thought the collapsible part was only the mesh underneath the fabric looking stuff.

Might want to look at Jim Shea's steering pages. He also might reply here.
