I finally got what I think is the correct numbered cast iron nosed starter motor for my 70 El Camino SS 396 made the 4th week in Apr. I have a good idea what the numbers stamped into the round casing are:
1108430 0C15 2
The 1108430 I am assuming is the part number... The 0C15 is probably the date code which is Mar. 15, 1970 but I do not know what the space 2 is after the date code.
Also, something that confused me was a casting / stamping in the cast iron nose.
Those numbers are :
D-3500
K AC 1KC
Can anyone help me with these numbers?
I am also going over the whole starter and cleaning and relubing everything before I install it into the elky. The previous guy painted the whole thing semi flat black including the solenoid and end plate. What color was the housing on the solenoid originally and what color is the end plate on the starter supposed to be?
Thanks for everyones input.
Brian
