I have a 1968 SS Chevelle. I have a question regarding where the water drains out of, after it goes down the front winshield and into the firewall. (Note: This area is located beside the trim tag) Thanks for your time and hopefully you can help me out!

The side cowl panels have drains at the bottom, near the bottom of the rear of the fenders; which is where the water is supposed to drain from. More often than not rodents, plant debris etc etc clog them up and cause major rust issues.

Also if the kick panel vents are not sealed with a good bead if putty (something like plumbers putty)the water will weep into the interior floorboards. This happened to me.I removed the kick panels and removed the old and cracked factory putty and installed a bead of plumbers putty around the vent hole(s),cleaned out the bottom(s) of the side cowl areas of trash, leaves, etc.to clear the weep hole at the bottom and reinstalled the panels. No more interior leaks:yes:

I am still unable to find this water drain plug on my 1968 Chevelle. Does anyone have any pictures or a better description to help me find this area? Thanks for your time, hope you all can help!

Not a plug, a thin slot in the sheetmetal. I'll attempt to get a couple of shots on a 68 We're doing a frameoff on tomorrow.

Sorry, Battery died in camera and it's fairly difficult to photograph anyway. The drain hole is 1 inch forward and above the hole where the rear bottom bolt attaches the fender to the body. There is a junction where the lower cowl is adjoined to the forward jamb, and this is where the water drains. If you have access to the cowl behind your kick panel or the hole where the blower motor is mounted you can shine a light in you should be able to see where the hole is, should be the same on the driver's side of the car as well.

Thank you all for your information! A picture would be great! I was looking for a hole, I think I have an idea where the slot might be now! Thanks again!:beers:
