An Ls6 registry is gaining momentum and ive asked Rick Nelson to help me and head up this task. [Rather i threatened him if he didnt!].....I am asking for feedback from Ls6 convertible owners[or anyone who has an opinion theyd like to share]. This discussion has come up several times but its time action were put to words. I for one have been reluctant to share buildsheets on these rare cars with others, but i think its now become neccessary to further the knowledge about these cars, and im certainly willing to share with those that reciprocate. If you know of or have one of these cars or simply have input youd like to share ,please respond!

I have long supported not only a registry of converts, but of ALL LS6's. I even tried to start one on many occasions, but the idea never took off. I'd like to lend any support you need. Tell me where to send my info.

Greg, I did post on rabbitstoys.com and made mention of you there. I realize you had wanted to see this through . Hopefully it will get done this time, if enough owners are willing to support it. Whenever you see a shelby or mopar for sale they are usually listed as being in a registry[Marti or Govier report] ..Its about time something similar was done here.

CJ, I am not sure why or how I was nominated but I would be happy to manage a registry as one is badly needed and the LS-6 Chevelle is the only muscle car without one which is very sad. I have tried unsuccessfully over the years to start one but cannot get LS-6 owners to supply information on their cars for unknown reasons. Also, this registry needs to be for ALL LS-6's not just the convertible.

I originally started collecting LS-6 build sheets and information on these cars to better my restorations and make them more accurate and that has grown into the interest of a registry for a multitude of reasons. As many of you are well aware of, these sheets were NEVER shared unless the owner gave their permission.

If there is an interest in participating in this, I would be more than happy to manage it. There would be many things that need to be worked out before anything is done but unless I see some interest on-line or via e-mail, I won't waste my time. I think it is important for people to understand, a registry like this should NOT be used to bad mouth someones car but rather just for the purpose of keeping a list of known and or documented cars. Much of the information received shall not be shared for obvious reasons as there are already too many cloners out there and I refuse to help someone in that endeavor.

Anyone interested, please let me know on or off line. That holds true for any negative opinions as well.

By the way Chuck, it was about time you shared your build sheet with me!

I'm in..Rick you have my permission to use my paperwork as you see fit. I trust your judgement and expertise. Hopefully with your "heading" the endeavor it will come into being.

Greg, I HAVE been using it. So far out of well over 100 sheets I possess, yours is the ONLY one with the B-22 SS door emblem listed on an SS454 car's buildsheet.

Thank you for the overwhelming support so far. I have received MANY e-mails with owner information. At this point, I am taking names and some other info and will try getting a website started as a base. People can then respond to that e-mail address and fax and I will set up a fill out form. So far I received several coupes, 2 convertibles and a few El Caminos. Keep them coming.

Go to www.v8buick.com (http://www.v8buick.com) and search for a gentleman named "marco". He has set up a website for Buick Stage 1 cars where he shares information on these cars. His information does not identify the owner publicly however it does allow the public to view a lot of the build sheet information. Build sheets for certain years are available from Buick.

You could also google search for "stage 1 registry" and find him through his website. His website "may" give you ideas for a website to "share" the information you gather with fellow Chevelle lovers. I think you will have better success if owners publicly see that you are not just collecting information for purchasing an LS-6. Yes, that has been a BIG problem with Corvettes. That's why there has not been or will ever be an extensive registry of Corvettes as several of the fellows running the "registry's" were doing so for the purpose of collecting owner information on cars for the purpose of purchasing cars.

The best club support of marque specific cars is SAAC (Shelby American Automobile Club). This club actaully has the original invoices from Shelby.

The CRG (Camaro Research Group) is building extensive information on Camaro's however this is group of gentleman that get trim tag/motor information through Camaros.net, ebay, car shows and other sources from folks who post the information for inclusion in their data bank. There are also numerous Camaro enthusiasts who have built their own personal lists.

Marco is a true Buick enthusiast and I am sure he would be happy to discuss your interest in creating a "successful" LS-6 registry.
