Pretty good decoding! Apparently the decoding of the last line of the cowl tag is not available for 68-72 Chevelles. Where are the codes available the decoding of speedway67's car??

Just curious...

Just curious... Some of the codes for 68-72 are known - at least to the point of finding them in other documentation...depends on the year and the assembly plant. It seems almost every plant did coding on the body plate a different way even in the same model year. The link supplied by elcamino points to a Camaro site and while some of the options are the same, some make no sense at all in the Chevelle world.

At the very top of the forum page is a link for numerous decoding sites...mine included. Not to say that one is better than the other, but I've done quite a bit of research and body tag/vin/pop comparisons with build sheets and original owners and GM's own documentation, so I'm pretty confident of my information. I'm also putting together a CD on the 1967 Chevelle (all models) and welcome any contributions people might have.

elcamino - Thanks! Although information pertains to Camaros. Still enlightening though...

Dale - Thanks for the info. I have visited your website and it is very, very informative.
