Was there anything that distiguished a 3899621 bell housing that was used on a 1966 396/360hp engine from 1967 or other years?
Thanks,
Bob

They are date coded. That's the only thing I know of.

As I understand it, the date code just refers to the month and week and not the year.

I am looking at a 621 with a 4 in the circle and 4 dots. I assume that means the fourth week in April with the year unknown. There is a 3 above the circles. Does this have any significance? The example in The Essential Fact Book has a 4.
Thanks,
Bob

The #621 bellhousing was used for 1967 and up with 11" clutch......I belive the correct bellhousing for a 1966 with 11" clutch would be the #444..used only one year hard to find and expensive $200+. They were used with all big block applications and high HP small blocks only. Happy new year by the way bob, hows the convertable coming.........

... slowly but surely on the conv. Mike Crown's "... Fact Book" indicates that the 621 did come on some 1966 cars. I'm guessing later assembled ones, but my car is third week in May so the 621 should be okay.

Bob

I have a # 444 bell housing 11" and it was behind a 67 396 elcamino that I removed , and have 2 1966 cars , but not factory stick cars , so I don't know pt # for 1966 bell housings , would guess 444 was also a 1966 number. marko
