: Looking for a little help

Some of you may know that I am still running Carter style carbs on my 350. I use a 600 CFM for the street and have been trying to get a 750 to work at the strip :(. The 750 has a bad transitional bog caused by the rather slow opening of the air valve.

The help I am looking for is - does anyone in our group have a Eddie or Carter 750 CFM that they gave up on and want to get rid of. I am going to modify the weights and plates on the air valve to get different opening rates. Yes I know the AVS series does this with a spring but that takes the challenge out of it ;).

So any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I'll look in the "pile-o-carbs" box tomorrow to see what's in there, ask Tracy since they're his. You're using a square bore intake manifold, correct?

I'll give you a hell of a deal on the 670 Avenger if the 750 works out for me like I hope :D

So do you really run it for the tuning challenge or just partial to them? :p

George that is a wonderful offer, but I am pushing the envelope with the 750 CFM. The 800 is just too big for my little SBC ;).

Been in that fix before . Moved around a lot in my younger days. I was always the outsider that people "took it out on". So I learned how to stand up for myself. Never looked for a scrap, always tired to avoid them, but I did finish a few in my day . Never a good situation.

x2  I only had trouble when I was younger and people wanted to build their own self confidence by picking on smaller kids. When I got bigger, I got left alone.

I try to avoid any form of physical violence as I scare myself when I lose control

I have a Eddy you can have, it is a 750 but I don't know if it is a AVS or not. I will check the part number later and let you know.

It is a 1407 Performer series 750. It is yours if you need it.

Thank you Brian that is perfect . I will pm you to see how we can get together.

Anybody else have one thrown in their pile in the corner of their shop :D. I would like to get about three different setups on the air valve.

I did find a Carter AFB square bore 4 barrel in the carb pile today, number on top says 2770? Not sure what size that is, will look. I'll also have to ask Tracy about if he wants it still as I bought that Holley 750 I traded for the Kenwood amp. It needs cleaned up but looks to be all there including choke.

I'll let you know....

Thanks for looking Mike. As long as it has a 1-11/16" secondary bore we are good to go .
