If the VIN has thirteen numbers, it's enough for NICB. However, they have to look it up on microfiche because the car is too old for their computerized records.

Your friend better be careful, its illegal to use that NCIB for personal reasons. He could get fired from his job and be charged with a crime. Larceny by conversion, taking information paid for with public tax dollars for personal use.

I know its done all the time but due to recent stalking laws, all access to those systems are logged.

NICB is not funded with tax dollars, it's money paid for through our insurance premiums. You are right though, it's for official use only.
