I'd "Stitch-Pin" crack repair it!
Do a google search for a kit, it's pretty easy to do and does fine!
And "shade-tree" as I am, some guys get by w/ a good crack area cleaning and a big daub of good old JBWeld!

sounds like it may be the head that is cracked if water is coming from behind the intake and exhaust.

H e has not had time yet to take it apart. Hoping that maybe it a head gasket. Maybe he will get it apart this weekend.

Cracked head, either fix it OR can it and buy a good one!
And I'm afraid that my '80 C/10 P/U's 250", 6-banger 1-piece head is probably cracked???
Dammed head has ta weigh 5 tons!!!
NOT onna GM's better ideas even tho I really like the stock, split-6 exhaust manifold deal as well as the 2-barrel carb design...
