Looking to buy something, they say its a 12-bolt from a '71 Chevelle, but wanna make sure its a real 12-bolt and not the BOP ones or whatever.
The housing part number is GM 62 number 3969278NF.
CASTING #97890 E-51
Thanks..

just look at the cover, it will have 12 bolts and and upside down V on it. It's literally that simple.

What about this, does this say what kind of car it's out of it/if it fits a Chevelle?

12 bolt = 12 bolt ring gear
but also
12 bolt cover = 10 bolt ring gear on some GM A bodies.
CCF00302B1 was this found stamped on the axle tube, you don't say much about where this code came from?
CCF - could be a 1970 Chevelle 3.31 posi but the 00302 don't make sense for a date code, should be only 3 or 4 digits.
B - Seems to indicate Buick is the manuf.
1 - is shift code

3969278NF casting number was used on 70 - 72 Chevelle 12 bolts. It is definitely a Chevelle 12 bolt.
