Any body else run into this issue?

1970 Chevelle, you top off the gas tank and drive it off and your buddy reports gas is dripping out behind the license plate. I guess when you accelerate it builds up around the gas cap and leaks/drips out.

Anybody got a solution?

Thanks

Vented vs non vented caps, poor sealing cap, small crack or leak at the filler neck to tank junction. Or dont top off the tank. Pretty common with vented vs non vented, I think its been covered here pretty well but not brought up for a couple of years. Try a search. I recall the threads but not the specifics on a fix. I think it came down to pressure relief spring mods and vented vs non vented caps on vented vs non vented systems.

Long winded bump. :D

I have had this issue. Where the filler neck goes into the tank is a weak point and over time, that joint develops stress cracks.
I emptied mine out and took it to a radiator shop. They welded up the filler neck and cleaned it out real well.
Or, you could have a really worn gas cap...
