My build sheet lists the following options:

ZL3 SS396 Conv
Z14 A/C Conversion

along with Z25 SS 396 PKG

What does the term Conversion or CONV mean on the build sheet?

Checked the reference section, but it did not have any details.

Thanks

Just what is sounds like. The car was converted over to Air Conditioning as opposed to a car without AC. More work involved in AC and SS cars.

the act of changing from one use or function or purpose to another

I understand, but was the car not ordered originally as an SS and A/C car, and was change on the line, or was this how all SS and A/C cars were noted on the build sheet (ordered from the dealer)?

Thanks

It was ordered, those are assembly line instructions. All build sheets are like that, it those codes were not on there, it would not be an SS 396 with A/C.

Those codes on the build sheet generated all kinds of plants operations to configure the car. Internal process's would describe all opertions/parts etc that had to be done to the car to make this happen.

ZL3 SS 396 CONV was used to denote the provisional assembly line upgrade to Super Sport Big Block. That code was used on all 396's,all plants.

Z14 A/C CONV was as stated, just that, used on cars that were ordered with RPO-C60 Air Conditioning. Most likely alerting Fisherbody as well.
But I have only found the Leeds Kansas City Plant built RPO-C60 cars to show this Z14 A/C CONVERSION notation.
