In the US books it's called Daytona Blue, in Canadian literature it's called Diplomat Blue Metallic. FWIW, only Canada and Fremont, CA used letters in 1964 paint codes...other US plants used a numeric code - 916 in this case of Daytona Blue. The "A" I understand is the color of the wheels too, black in this case.

What can I say? Their judging sheet on 1964 colors is either for full size Chevrolets (before they absorbed NCOA) or it's incomplete listing only Fremont Chevelles. There is no US-built 1964 Chevelle paint color I can find anywhere of "Skyline Blue" or "Sunfire Red Metallic."

These body plates clearly show paint code 916.

GM Parts & Accessories Catalog's 1964 Paint Combination Chart shows paint codes as the RPO number and not the Chev. code (letters) as 65-68 do.

Fremont, and I believe Oshawa, were the only two (Chevelle) assembly plants in 1964 that had the Chev. code (letters) designating paint colors. Atlanta, Baltimore, Kansas City, and Van Nuys used the RPO number on their body plates. Also, on the above mentioned plants, two-tone cars did not use a upper-lower color code combination but rather a different 3-digit number than either of the two colors involved. One example is RPO paint code 959, white over silver blue.

1. 1964 was the only year to have a 4-digit RPO code if the car was a convertible with the last number being the convertible top number.
2. 1964 Fremont cars listed the upper body color letter before the lower body color letter. Example CP is an Ermine White top (C) with Azure Aqua bottom (P) - RPO 954 for all other US plants. I believe the Chevelle Decoder program sold here is incorrect on a couple of tow-tone 64 paint schemes.

Ditzler shows a three digit paint code, not letters. Page 2 shows two-tone paint codes with the top color listed first. Since it's known that 959 is white over silver blue (CF) then the CP code listed on the Fremont tag above must be white (C) over aqua (P) meaning the upper color is listed first - all other years list the lower color number first.
