: Thoughts on a new section.
Elcoman May 5th, 09, 12:27 AM I personally think that the selection of topics is great. I am sure Al is tired of all the new ideas on different topics.:D
However, how about a section for people to ask questions that need an immediate reply.
Here is a scenario:
You are covered head to toe in grease, something bad just happen or something wont fit. So you crawl out from under your El Camino and go in the house as the significant other is screaming at you for bringing grease in the house. You log on to Chevelles.com to get advice for something that you want to finish right now.:D
pnugene May 5th, 09, 1:02 AM The reason that won't work, the guy who knows your answer is under HIS A-body covered head to toe in grease and his other half is yammering at him about tracking crud in the house. He doesn't have time to deal with her and you too.:noway:
Wouldn't be any different then asking in the proper forum.:noway:

*DING!*
That and racing games is why I have one out there. No printer though. The audio output is connected to the stereo for MP3 listenage and the sweet sounds of the video game when I'm topping out 6th gear at Barcelona in the Williams Corvette :D
Besides, I've seen things get answered pretty quickly around here. Usually use the opportunity when I need an immediate answer to grab a fresh soda or a sandwich. Getting yelled at by the wife for gettin kitchen utensils all greasy is just a bonus.

Beaux May 5th, 09, 9:43 AM You're asking for a wrenching helpdesk live support line? Do we have TC'ers in India? Rodding and restoring a rickshaw SS? Project "Hot like Curry" :D
Can't see how a question under a different heading would be answered any quicker.
If people are not logged on, they're not logged on.
Maybe a list of cell phone numbers might work.

In heavy Hindi accent, "Hello, my name is Bob, how can I help you?
"My car won't start!"
"Is the battery in the car?"
"Yes, it cranks over but won't start."
"Are the battery cables connected?"
"Yes, I told you it cranks over but won't start!"
"Is the key in the ignition?"
"Of course, how the **** to you think I got to crank over"
"Is the transmission in neutral?
Click, burr.....

Excellent!
1BLACKHARLEY May 5th, 09, 6:56 PM when ever i need quick help, i just go to bench, usually i get my answer within minutes, even before it's moved to the proper section.
i know the most people are on bench, and will always jump in to help, then a mod moves it to the proper section, and others can learn from my mistakes...

Say I call in with a problem on my EFi converted Chevelle using mostly GM parts from many different vehicles and the occasional aftermarket piece. How big is that trouble tree?
Seriously, I have a friend who works for a mechanic's tech assist line called Identifix (aka MPIFix). They're located right here in the middle of the gosh darn US of A and have for real americans working there. It's not a public call in type place, but if you're a shop you can subscribe to thier service. They have pretty much all the repair information you could ever need for factory fixes. The GM guys' section has pretty much all the shop manuals, they also have SI, All data and another line. I also help him out occasionally with GM's Dealerworld and cross checking or info on GM parts if he has a question. Too bad they don't really go back past the early 80s for reliable info.
