Since Mr. Gasket Ultra Seals have "sealing rings" on both sides of the gasket, instead of just the manifold side, ... it seems that they might have a better chance of sealing, ... than the the FP Printoseal. Reasonable conclusion? Dealing with intake/head angles and the Air Gap is now back from machine shop. Hoping to get everything right, this time.

Either gasket will work well. I put a light smear of silicone around all the ports if leaking has occurred before.

X2.
I had good luck with the printo seals as my stock felpros leaked water. For insurance I smeared a very light smear of rtv around the ports just like Dave said.

The old gaskets used to have a metal mesh in the middle to hold everything together. A few years ago, I installed the new style gaskets with the silicone beads around the ports. I had the intake off this past week to block the heat crossover and install the GM oil shield under the intake. The gaskets were mushing out into the ports in places and actually coming apart. I use a torque wrench for everything so I know that the intake was torqued down to spec. It wasn't just at the ends where the gaskets were disintegrating. These gaskets have the blue seal on just one side. I think they are Mr. Gasket but can't be sure as I installed them quite a few years ago. The oil leaking was due to the front and rear seals which are the first things in the garbage when I open a gasket set these days. I've had good luck with Permatex black gasket maker in a tube in place of the rear seals.

Are you certain about this ?? I have several sets here and they are the same as the Fel-Pro's .... only have the seal on one side. That is the way they have been for years unless they recently changed.

I've had much better luck with Mr Gasket, never had a leak. I've used the Felpro print o seal twice and had leaks both times. The regular Felpros have worked well for me though.

The first and last Mr. Gasket set I bought has the water outlets way smaller than what they should be. The Fel-Pros have the correct sizes.
