I am in the process of swappping the stock driveshaft for an Aluminum one. In the process, I noticed that the tailshaft busshing had gone bad (witness marks on the yoke). Since the 2004r trans does not have a removal tail housing, I need some advice on how to remove/reinstall a new bushing (never done one before). Is there a special tool for doing this? Thank you for any advice you can give.

sam....There is a special tool for removing the bushing with trans in the car. Also to install. Know a tranny guy to borrow it from?

Do you know if the tool is only for the 2004r or is it for all the GM transmissions? thanks for the reply.

Get this for $20 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170279814950) . It's a steal(everywhere else its $130+) and a nice tool... plus you can resell it when you're done with it for what you paid and the next guy will get a good deal to  (I kept mine though)
