I can provide most of the information Jim.

69 136379 - 69 Malibu two door hardtop V8.

KAN - Kansas City assembly plant.

311908 - sequential serial number for Kansas City plant.

107683 - others on here have indicated this is some type of Fisher Body tag.

796 - Green bucket seat interior.

57 B - Fathom Green paint, Black vinyl top.

096 - I imagine the '6' should be either an A, B, C, D, or E. The "09" would represent Sept/68 build month. The single alpha code would represent first to fifth week of that month.

07064 L - ??????

Hope this helps.

107683 on the body plate is the Fisher body number - nothing to do with VIN. When the car was ordered built by GM, Fisher Body assigned a number to it based on the model/series (i.e., 2-dr coupe). Bodies were not sequentially numbered like the final, assembled car was at the end of the assembly process but rather assigned sequential numbers based on the particular model.

A convertible car may have a lower body number than a 2-dr coupe even if it was built later in the model run simply because fewer convertibles would be built.

The 07064 is a data processing tracking number for the car and is found on the build sheet in block 24. Significance isn't known (and probably none to the enthusiast anyway) but it would help verify a particular build sheet to a particular car. The L is still guesswork as well. It DOES NOT indicate a SS car as once thought as it's found on other 69s known NOT to be SS cars.
