Some info I found on the net was that this crosses to GM p/n 3991469 and is for 67-85 all internal balanced engines with 11" clutch, 168 tooth ring gear with 2 pc rear seal. Should be obvious if its for 'external' balanced engine. Flye Dec 28th, 04, 12:49 PM yes, 396 is internal. And that is what I was looking for, a flywheel that would fit the BBC, internal balance. Based on the above, it sounds like it would fit. Now all I have to do is get that groove machined out of the face..... Thanks. In readinug your posts, you mentioned machining the grove out of the face? Can you let me know what has to be ground out, will it not fit the 396 as it is?
