I've got a 71 Monte I just dropped a 468 in with ported and matched victor series heads and intake. But no hood clearance :(. Have heard form a few sources that a 71 chevelle cowl hood should fit. and I can pick up for half of what steelhoods.com wants for the monte cowl. Anyone have any info on the subject? I wanna get her out to see if she runs the projected mid 11's we are hoping for.

The trunks are the same but the hoods are different...

The Monte Carlo Hood is much longer that a Chevelle by maybe close to a foot...

get the cut off tool and welder out. I believe the guy that owns parts place in chicago has/had a cowl hood on a covertable monte carlo. I heard they spliced the front part of the monte carlo hood to the back part of a chevelle cowl hood. The conv. part was also grafted from a gm a body. jim

It would be easier to cut the cowl hump out and graft it to the Monte hood.. Or even easier to buy one of these...AMD All Steel Hood Scoops (http://www.jegs.com/p/AMD/1213709/10002/-1)

How about cutting a hole in your hood and installing a 'glass cowl induction section?

I have considered cutting the hood and putting a cowl on. But I am concerned with the bracing underneath. Wont that have to be shored up as well to prevent excess flex?
