I recently purchased a 454 for my 70 chevelle. The engine stamp above the timing cover reads TAO1XAA8. I know the T represents the GM plant location and the rest should tell me the month and year of the block. The only problem is that I can’t find any references to decipher.
Can anyone help with some specifics?

Jason,
I wonder if it should be "AAB" ? Even though that doesn't show up either. What is the block casting number ?

The block casting is 14015445. It is a High Performance LS6
I said casting date not block casting number.
Targetmaster was the name for GM replacement engines -some from Mexico.

find any and all casting (not stamped) numbers off the block and head over to www.mortec.com to find out what it all means..
