Hey guys, I just picked up a 350 4 bolt main, forged steel crank short block.
Anyway, I was just wondering what it came from
The VIN pad had the following:
T 2510 36 V0308TXC
(The spaces on the first set might be numbers/letters, but they have woren away)
Thanks!!

Thanks David.
Only a 165HP huh? Geez I wonder why GM would bother with 4 bolt main and a forged steel crank on such a low HP motor.
Makes me wonder if my 350 (160HP) in my K5 Blazer has a forged steel crank and/or 4 bolt mains. Until now I never thought it would be a chance. Its a 2 piece rear main block which I prefer when the time comes to rebuild.
Anyway, thanks again David.

Was also used in 1 ton truck. Primary reason for 4 bolt mains was trucks
Chances are a 1/2 or 1/4 ton like the Blazer would not get the 4-bolt but u can never tell until you look. 3/4 and up trucks would have it because they were more torque then HP applications.

Hey, I just noticed something on the block.
The casting date says 'B 11 6' which would mean it was cast on Feb 11 1976, right?
Just alittle more info:
Casting Number: 3970010
Larger VIN pad area, unlike some of the later '70's+ that had the small VIN pad.
It also has the nickle and tin markings:
010
020
From what I read, I have a heavy casting with good iron, nickle, and tin content. I hope this block will handle the amount of HP/TQ its going to be making.....
