Help....
Spent the last hour tring to use the "search" to find the answer to when to re-install the inner springs on my 454.
For some reason it does not like the word "inner".
Any how broke the cam in for the 20-25 minutes and changed the oil...checked the lash... got about 20 miles on it.
Is this to soon?

I've heard anything from immediately after the cam break in up to putting about 500 miles on the engine first (ie: break in the entire engine first). Hopefully one or more of our engine experts will pipe in.

You need to call the cam manufacturer and find out what their recommendations are. You need to follow their procedures.

Shaun,
I tell my customers that the longer they can run it on the outer springs, the better. If you think you can keep your foot out if it, I would try and put 100 or more miles on it. I doubt that you will get an exact number from anyone, but I think the longer the better, especially with the problems that seem to be occuring with cams now days.

AFAIK, if you've done the break-in drill and put a few miles on it you're good to go. Just avoid letting it sit around idling.

Yeah, i installed mine after breaking and pulling it around the block and back into the garage. Should be fine after that, at least that is my understanding.
