CL0720R (The L may be a 1) but I think it's L. Casting is 3875745N, DATE IS L185. what do I have?

David Bates Dec 6th, 04, 2:16 PM 3875745 is a 1966 Chevelle 12-bolt casting number. L 18 5 is the casting date Dec 18,1965. The CL0720R is not right for a 12-bolt (CL is a 3.08 10-bolt code), 0720 is July 20, 1966 (which again doesn't jive with a December 1965 casting date) and the R is probably a B for the Buffalo rear axle assembly plant. Check the stamped number on the axle tube again and also check to see if there is the letter "E" (for Eaton Positraction unit)stamped below the code. judgeroy Dec 6th, 04, 9:49 PM There is an E below the tube code, I'll have to check with my buddy on the correct letters and #s, it's his rear end and it's at his shop. I have some axles from a 68 camaro and he's wanting to put something together for his car, all he has is the housing w/caps. Thanks guys | ||
