I've been running the aftermarket "F" bracket that bolts on with the headers. Does anyone know of any other ways to keep the alternator in it's stock position on a '68 or earlier? I have later model heads threaded for accessories. If I have to I'll find a set of brackets from a later model with long water pump, but this is more trouble than I'm hoping for.

I moved my alternator to the other side of the engine compartment. I used the newer style mounting bracket that attaches to the head and top of the intake manifold. I know this is not stock, but I think this is more reliable and more solid than the aftermarket header mounted bracket. It took about 1/2 day to reroute the wiring under the upper radiator core support and new mounting brackets. Good luck, if you use this method.
