: Need direction selecting a Voodoo cam
DRKV8R Apr 28th, 09, 11:42 PM I have a 69 chevelle with a 355 c.i. that i want to install a set of vortec heads to. I need help on selecting the big enough hydraulic roller Voodoo cam and still have enough vacuum, although a not so good idle would be ok. I am planning on machining the heads to be able to run more than .500" lift. The compression is 8.5 to 9.5:1. Also which set of srpings would work with the cam?
pslayton32 Apr 29th, 09, 12:50 AM Just E mail Lunati there staff is very knowledgeable they will make their recommendation based on all of the info you give them. The web site has all of the info and they get right back to you within 24 hrs. Hope this helps.
webfoot Apr 29th, 09, 2:38 AM We need more info such as transmission, converter, rear gear.
DRKV8R Apr 29th, 09, 6:47 PM Here is the additional info. 350 tranny, 3:73 gears, planning on purchasing new stall converter to better fit the cam I'll select, but not over 2500 stall speed. I currently have a 650 cfm Edelbrock carburetor and I will be installing a vortec air gap Edelbrock intake manifold (dual plane) and a set of hooker headers (waiting until cam selection before I select primary tube size). Also I have upgraded the HEI distributor with an MSD module for more spark. I rather have throttle response and low/mid range torque than high reving HP.
webfoot Apr 30th, 09, 12:29 AM 60103 would probably work pretty well, assuming your CR works out to the mid-range of your estimate. Although with those steep gears you might be able to get away with it anyway.
No need to go with any more than 1 5/8" headers.
DRKV8R Apr 30th, 09, 8:08 AM webfoot,
Thanks for the reply.
I am looking to purchase a voodoo roller cam...any sugestions on that family of cams?
68chvlss396 Apr 30th, 09, 8:21 AM PM UDharold here on this site. He is the designer of the entire Voodoo line for Lunati. He will set you up.
webfoot Apr 30th, 09, 11:25 AM In that case, the 60111.

DRKV8R Apr 30th, 09, 3:30 PM Does anyone have an audio file of the 60111 running? I'm curious to hear what Lunati means by 'fair idle'.
webfoot Apr 30th, 09, 4:22 PM I have the 60112 in my 383, it idles lopey but still at 700 rpms. I can still use power brakes. I don't have video but that cam in a 355 would be similar to how mine sounds. You can get away with more cam with a hyd roller than a flat tappet.
You should find an online CR calculator and figure out exactly what you have.
PRO 48 Fleetline Apr 30th, 09, 5:47 PM Lunati Voodoo's are some of the best cams built now great stuff!
I just installed a 243/249 @ .050 -595" Solid Roller in my 406 10.81 comp.
DRKV8R Apr 30th, 09, 6:09 PM Thank you guys for all your input, especially webfoot. I am going to calculate the exact cr and I will be purchasing a cam soon. I will let you know what I purchased (voodoo of course).
