1966_L78 Nov 23rd, 04, 12:24 PM The codes you are having trouble with:
EX (this is likely Group 1),
E=Tinted windows (all)
X= Power Windows
Group 2: 2EZU
E=Air Conditioning
Z=TH400 trans (3-speed automatic)
U=Stereo Tape (8-track)
Group 4: 4F
F=Remote Mirror
Group 5: 5Y
Y=deluxe seat belts
The "162051" is an internal plant tracking number and doesn't tell us anything about the car.
Find these codes here:

Lots of good info to find there...
1967 SS 2-door hardtop (67-13817), black bench seat interior (761-A), Tahoe Turquoise (dark?) with black vinyl top (L-2)...
ellevehc Nov 23rd, 04, 12:27 PM are these options very rair.
1966_L78 Nov 23rd, 04, 12:58 PM I don't have the numbers here, but most of the options you have aren't terribly rare.
The TH400 was only available behind the 396, so either an SS or El Camino...
Power windows weren't too common, but then again, Chevrolet was the bottom-of-the-rung when it came to GM luxury, So these options weren't seen too often on Chevelles.
A/C wasn't really rare, and tinted windows might have come standard with A/C...
Some things, while somewhat rare, will be less desirable. Such is the case for the column-shifted automatic with the bench seat... Even though its kind of rare, most buyers would prefer buckets and a console.
ellevehc Nov 23rd, 04, 1:32 PM the car also has power disc brakes,tilt wheel.the rear end code is KV is that an option since its an air car.

DaleM Nov 23rd, 04, 11:24 PM KV is the code for a 3.31 posi. and was optional on the 396 regardless of the other options. With the TH400, the 2.73 was standard, 3.07 was the "performance" ratio and 3.31 was "special performance." While individual options may not be that rare, the combination of them would probably be fairly unique. For various years, there are numbers floating around for each option available, but a composite list of what combinations isn't available. To illustrate an extreme, say there were 100,000 67 SS396 Chevelles sold with A/C but only 500 with power windows (numbers plucked from...well, you know). It'd only be a guestimate of how many came with both. Multiply that times the number of options the car has and you get the idea.
elcamino Nov 24th, 04, 8:40 AM GM and Chevrolet was more concerned with the amount of each option sold, not is what combinations appeared on built cars. It has no use to them, so there is no way to figure that out unless you had every build-sheet from every car they built and setup a database to sort it all out.
btw-Chevrolet insistes that records prior to 1977 do not exist, they were destroyed many years ago as they had no reason to keep them and all the reasons you can think of to not.
ellevehc Nov 24th, 04, 10:31 AM thank you very much guys.i felt the car was a little odd and needed the assurance to pursue a full frame off resto.
DaleM Nov 26th, 04, 7:42 AM I'd think if you're really going to "restore" it and not "restify" or over restore it, at least there's proof the options were on the car. Be sure to take lots of before photos of things like the interior w/tilt column and disc brakes (if original), etc. to document what you started with. Sounds like a good project car and Tahoe Turquoise wasn't that popular a color 30+ years ago and should stand out on a cruise or on a show field.
