Hi,

I have the same question regarding how to determine if my 69 is a true SS396 car. If you have and answer I'd sure appreciate it if you could let me know. My numbers are:
VIN 136379G338202
Trim Tag ST 6913637 FM84483 BDY 756 52B PNT

Thanks,

Bud

Beginning in '69, SS was an option on the Chevelles.

The only real way to tell if it is a legit SS is from paperwork, ie. buildsheet, that would have come from the car.

Refer to this link to answer many of your questions.
