Dog Dish Restoration
Does anyone know someone who can polish up and get some minor dents out of my Dog Dish Caps? Any suggestion on a “do it yourself” version?
Thanks, Dave

Dave...The 68/69 dog dish hubcaps are one of the hardest things to get right on a restoration in my opinion. They are anodized aluminum. They can't be polished. Like any anodized/aluminum molding/part, they would have to be striped, then dents worked out, then polished, and finally re-anodized. If someone was going to do this, it would cost a bundle. I found a couple nos caps, and a couple nice ones. I know they reproduce them now, and I'm not sure how good they are, but it may be a better way to go.

Thanks Bill,
I was thinking they were uncoated stainless.... Next time I am at a show with vendors I will look at the repros but don't let anyone know ;).. On another note, does anyone have experience with the reproductions?

My 'new' 1969 Canadian Malibu has 4 original 'dog dish' caps. They are made of stainless steel.
I don't know if they are any different on a U.S.A. produced Chevelle.

Three of the four are in like new condition. One will need some straightening around the center.
