I think it is a 8.5 from what I heard on here from some guys. It has 30 spline side gears and 7/16" ring gear bolt holes. The thing is my ring gear fits on it perfect except for the 3/8" bolts and bolt holes in the gear itself. The unit fits in the carrier good also it will just have to be shimmed different cause it is a tad larger than my stock diff. Have any of you ever seen a 8.2 set up with 30 spline axles??? And if I weld the axle housings to the carrier housing how much stronger will that make it.

The 8.2 would have bolt holes for the 3/8 bolts and 28 spline axle gears. If you can make it work then you are going to need a set of Moser 30 spline axles. What are you going to do about the holes for the ring ger bolts? Are you going to make bushings for them and use bolts with larger heads? If you don't do something then the bolts will come loose later.

Yeah I was thinking about using some sort of bushing or getting a new gear set that would fit it. So if I could get it to work it would be strong enough for 450-500 hp or torque???

The Auburn might handle it, but the 8.2 ring & pinion might not if the tires hook up.
