This is a 168 tooth flywheel, but we are unsure of what year they are....
3993827 writen in paint
Cast is 3973457 or 3978457
date code is E 1 8

I show GM part # 3993827 to be 70-72 Chevelle 454.

Have you found out about Flywheel part # 3973457, I have same flywheel behind 1974 454 (not factory stock) and have vibration, could be pressure plate out of balance but I want to know what I own, Thank you ART.

This is strange.. I too have a flywheel (it's definitely off a 454, from the balance weight), but it was from a 1992 454 Gen V.
I should mention, mine has an "N", so the casting actually says 3978457N

While doing some research on 454 flywheels, I found that there are two different part # for the flywheels. Apparently, there is a difference between the Gen V forged, and Gen V cast crank flywheels!
So perhaps that explains why Chevy suggested a different flywheel for my 454 HO, than the stock truck 454 flywheel I have in the pic.
