: Holley Carb Picture
71velle_malibu Nov 11th, 04, 4:38 AM Hey all,
need your help. I have posted this on another topic but got no reply, it seems as nobody wanted to read it anymore. :D
In the other posting most people said I should replace my 1405 Edelbrock with a 3310 750 Holley vac secondaries. I have found a Holley carb on Ebay Germany, but it doesn't state any numbers and the seller won't reply. Can you tell from a pic what it is?

Here's the link to the old topic, if you want to see what it's all about:

I'm not sure if I should go for it, on the other thread I asked people to help me get a 3310 because someone said you could get on for below 200 over there, but I got no reply anymore.
Thanks,
Olli
70 Elco Joe Nov 11th, 04, 6:01 AM Thats a Holley 750 Vaccum secondaries model 4160. If its a 3310 is a 3310-2 or greater. The 3310-1 is a 4150. The only difference is the metering plate on the 4160 style vs. the metering block on the 4150 style. You can also get a conversion from Summit or Jegs that will convert a 4160 to a 4150.
It will work for what you want it for either way, and if you want more tuning you can upgrade it.
mr 4 speed Nov 11th, 04, 7:30 AM It's probably a 3310..too bad he won't reply
71velle_malibu Nov 11th, 04, 9:14 AM So shall I go for it? Will it work better on my 400 SBC than the Edelbrock 1405? Also, somebody said I shouldn't take a Double Pumper for my application. Why, and how can you see if it's a DP without knowing the numbers?
notstock71 Nov 11th, 04, 9:40 AM I would pass on it. If he won't reply to questions about the carb now what's to say he'll even send it. Carbs are everywhere, I'd wait.

71velle_malibu Nov 11th, 04, 3:13 PM BTW is the 3310 a double pumper or not? 427L88 told me NOT to get a DP but he never told me why. See his post:

Man, I'm really confused, I don't know a thing about Holley's. I just saw a 3310 on Ebay and it says DP? Can I tell from the picture if it is a DP or not? I'm just looking to get a better carb for my application. Also on the Holley Website it says that the 3310 is a supercharger carb? ARRGLL. HELP. The auction is ending in less than an hour and carbs are hard to get over here...
mr 4 speed Nov 11th, 04, 3:21 PM Ollie,3310's are not double pumpers
They are vacuum secondaries, like in the picture you posted the link to on ebay..go for it..it looks like the carb you need!
71velle_malibu Nov 11th, 04, 3:29 PM Thanks Chris!
mr 4 speed Nov 11th, 04, 3:36 PM FYI,I run the exact same carb (3310) on my 454..very happy with it
71velle_malibu Nov 11th, 04, 3:49 PM It's mine! graemlins/beers.gif
ZZ69chevelle Nov 11th, 04, 6:07 PM Looks like a 3310-3
northern 396 Nov 12th, 04, 12:47 PM It sounds as if you bid on the carb. I'm curious to see if you actually get it since the auction says the seller will only ship to Germany. As Canadians, we run into that all the time -- many if not most US sellers on ebay don't want to ship to Canada. Yet it is no more difficult to send things to Canada than within the US - all it takes is to fill out one little form at the post office.
DaleM Nov 12th, 04, 6:27 PM A Holley double pumper has mechanical secondaries in place of the vacuum units. Not as *friendly* on the street for most engines, primarily designed for racing applications. Part numbers are 4776 (600cfm), 4778 (700cfm), 4779 (750cfm), 4780 (800cfm) and 4781 (850cfm). Unfortunately, most pics of Holley carbs on the Internet show the drivers side and not the passenger side with the mechanical secondaries.

mr 4 speed Nov 14th, 04, 6:05 AM Ollie, glad you won the auction...between the exhaust change and the carb,I think you'll be very pleased graemlins/thumbsup.gif
71velle_malibu Nov 18th, 04, 10:17 AM Edited. See below.
71velle_malibu Nov 18th, 04, 4:39 PM Ok guys, the carb arrived today. It's a 3310-3, good guess ZZ69chevelle! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Now what do I do first, I have never dealt with a Holley before. Anything I should check? One thing is a bit odd, when I move the secondary flaps there is water bubbeling out of idle air bleeds. WTF?! I have checked the fuel bowls and they are bone dry. I also tried to light up the fluid on a knife (didn't want to try that on the carb ;) ) and it did NOT light up. Also it does not smell like fuel. Man that sucks. I will contact the seller about that. I don't want to rebuild it.
I don't know what he did, maybe he cleaned it with a water? The carb itself looks ok. Do you think the water did any harm? Shall I return it, as you have read it ain't easy to get 3310's over here.
Any other advices before I try it out?
Thanks for bearing with me!
Olli

Anyone?
(read last post)
71-454 Mar 25th, 06, 12:23 AM There is a difference between Holley Dual Inlet and Double Pumpers, almost all Holley 4 brls are dual inlet, one for each fuel bowl. However, to see if it is an actual double pumper, just turn the carb over and look on the bottom. If the bottom of each fuel bowl bottom has an accelerator PUMP, (ie 2), that would make it a double pumper then wouldn't it?
Rule of thumb....Vacuum secondaries (LIST 3310 or Street Avengers) for an automatic car, and Double Pumpers (LIST 47XX) for a stick.
There ya go....
