I've already posted this subject here, but it's time for an update. In a previous post from a few weeks back, I told you about a ministry effort I'm heading up at our church called the Musclecar Ministry. We're restoring a 1971 Dodge Demon with the help of volunteers.

This started out as fund raising idea for our new church, but God has made it apparent that He intends to use this ministry for much more than just fund raising. When I finally shared this idea with our men's ministry director, it took off like a wildfire! That's how I know He has greater plans for this effort than what I envisioned. As His servant, I plan to be obedient to His will.

One of the first things I want to do is to reach out to my fellow TC'ers in the DFW area. We have acquired the car and it's sitting in a shop in Grapevine, Texas. This project is not just limited to members of our church or to fellow believers. I want to invite anyone who is interested to come out and work on this project. If this sound like something you might want to be a part of, contact me via PM for contact info and the address of the shop.

For the benefit of newer members here who are questioning why I'm posting this on a Chevelle sight, I've been a member here for over ten years and recently sold my 71 Chevelle. I hope to have another Chevelle in the garage one of these days. When I started looking for a car for this ministry, I had to be open minded and not just limit myself to Chevelles only. Our Dodge was bought for a very good price and it's in better than average shape for its age. Anyone who wants to learn more about restoring cars can benefit from this experience and apply that knowledge to Chevelles.

But if anyone is interested, let me know.

Awesome idea, if someone was doing that in the Raleigh area, I would help out in a heartbeat. I would love to learn how to restore a car. My brother lives in Colleyville, Tx, just outside of Dallas. I would tell him about it, but he isn't a car guy :)

Randy, what you guys are doing is fantastic. You'll be able to reach people you never could have otherwise. Sometimes God opens what seems to be a strange door for us, but know this....He never makes a mistake. I wish you great success with the restoration project. Who woulda thunk God is a Mopar guy:D

I like the fact that your using a Demon In the Ministry for this.

A former pastor of mine once nicknamed me "Jehu". I asked him why and he told me to read 2nd Kings 9:20.

Yea, especially when the religious groups pressured Mopar to drop the name origionally!
Glad to hear it is working for you, sounds like a good idea.

Our church did a similar project 2 years ago it was a 67 Chevelle that the CARS Ministry totally customized. It had a front clip the flipped forward (name of this escapes me). The CARS Ministry is a group of 90 - 100 volunteers how repair cars that have been donated to the church and then they are given to needy moms in the community.

Willow Creek has about 15,000 attendees each weekend. I'll find out what the car brought in - it was raffled off.
