I currently have a 67 Malibu with factory air that I don't have working yet. I have a GM Performance Parts serpentine kit with a/c. I had all of my hoses rebuilt and haven't gotten to the point of hooking all of the system up yet. I don't even know if my hoses will bolt right up to the new compressor.
My question is should I continue with my factory a/c set up or should I just scrap it and go with an aftermarket one? If the answer is aftermarket then which one?
Thanks!
I put a Vintage Air Sure Fit kit in my 67 (non air car) and it went in well and I was happy with it. There is a new one coming out but it's still delayed. If the car is original, I'd go with the stock unit if I could. Otherwise I liked the Sure Fit kit.

With the serpentine setup you'll have to use a Sanden or Seltec compressor instead of the A6. Your hoses won't match the new compressor so You'll need to have the manifold changed to separate fittings.
Use the rest of the original system. You'll have much better control of the air temp, direction and blend of the airflow. It's also my opinion that the original AC works better than any aftermarket system.

You will be happier with the original AC.

I had that same question actually. i have the march mid mount setup. not a true serp, but the serp type belts. they have one option that will mount the sanden compressor. mine is a factory a/c car. so if i wanna do this, if i understand correctly from the above post, all i have to do to get it to work is some custom hoses, and everything else should be good to go with the stock system? i am assuming that since the a/c has not run in a while there would be some components that need to be replaced.

That's pretty much it. The sanden compressor works well with the OEM system.
You'll need to replace the accumulator or receiver/drier and flush any parts that are reused. If the system has been down for a long time, check for internal corrosion in the condenser and evaporator.
