Hello:
I know that this question has probably been asked and answered many times before so I will apologize in advance for the redundancy.

My question will be relating specifically to a first generation Monte Carlo (70-72)
I know that the Monte Carlo and the chevelle are sister cars so I am guessing that the wheel info will be basically the same.

What was backspacing on a stock 15x7 rally and 15x8 rally respectively and what exactly does the term “corvette rally wheel” mean? I know that most guys run 15x7 with 4” BS and 15x8 with 4.5” BS and I know these wheels are available from summit in 4”bs 4.5”bs 5”bs. What I am finding particularly CONFUSING is that I see these wheels being referred to as 3.75”bs on a 15x7 and 4.75”bs on a 15x8. I went to look at a set of 15x8 on a 75 corvette and the owner insisted that the BS was 4.75”

Any clarification would be helpful.

Thank you

Corvette Rally wheel means thats what the 15X8's actually came on from factory. The owner may be right the backspacing is 4.75". The aftermarket uses 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 for backspacing.

Factory backspacing on ALL Corvette 8" rally (AZ code) is 4". A 15X7 standard "Monte Carlo" rally(FW most common,YH or AD code), which most 15x7's are, has 4.25" bs. A 68 Corvette only 15x7 rally(AG code) has a 3.75" bs. and can take the 8" rally deep beauty ring! If bs is 4.75" on his 8" wheels, they have been altered or are aftermarket!
