Has anyone encountered an LJ 0416 K axle code on a 12 bolt ? The center section has 3969278 on it.

I've looked through the axle code lists on the net and cannot find LJ.

That casting number was used for Chevy-A Body 12 bolts.
The only use for LJ I find is a 70 GTO/GP
2.56 non posi. The Gto with 455 engine in early 70's did use the Chevy 12 bolt rear.
Check the casting date next to the cover opening to verify year. Looks like this

I could not find that date code. I do see a "C 20" on the front side under the yoke. My main condern is to verify that this rear is the true chevy 12 bolt. It is only a bare housing but the pinion gear is intact showing 16 teeth which would verify the 2.56 gear.

I didn't want to find out after buying a posi and gears that this is an Olds rear.

If you do a Tag Team or Transmission search on the casting number you will see several examples that it was used for Chevelle 12 bolt. An Olds would not be the same number.
I show the part numbers for the 12 bolt 2.56 Chevy ring and pinion is 3871041-3871038.
One of these number should be stamped on the base of the pinion.
It is possible that McKinnon axle plant cast the date code in a different location.
C20 would be Mar 2nd '70. A few weeks before the rear was assembled.
