Joe.. Most water pump codes are 3 or 4 letters/numbers :
Not sure about 72's but look to see if it has a code like this.
example---B149= Feb-14th-1969

The WP pump in my 68 is C288 = March 28, 1968 for a May built 68 Chevelle
