Hello, this is the casting number I've found: 3970024, it's a 69-73 307, right? Today I found the engine code and VIN: T1210CTA 188146255. The vin#'s last six numbers matches the vin placed at the base of the windshield: 136390B146255, so I guess the engine is the original. My question relates to the CTA suffix; this code doesn't exist for 1970 engines, right? According to internet references found in sites mentioned in this forum, the CTA suffix applies only to these small block engines: 1972 400, 1974 400, and 1978 305. So, what's wrong here?
My car has TH350 (almost sure) and Rochester 2-jet carb. I still can't see the casting date; there is a clock cast in the block.
Thanks in advance, this site is great; almost every question I had is already answered here!
