I have a Canada built 69 SS the Cowl Tag reads

782 5757
5E L65M38

I know it is a true 69 SS by the 69 13637, and I know th 782 is the green trim, but the 5757 should be the color of the car but I can't find it in any code book, did Canada have their own colors? and do any of the other numbers mean anything?

Does it have a vinyl top??? If not the code is 57 and 57 for the top. Which I think is Fathom Green? Mike

Yes, the numbers on the bottom line decode to options installed on the car, no, I don't know how to decode them yet.

As already stated 57 is Fathom Green, top and bottom, 13637 really only tells you that it was an 8 cyl. car,for the 69-72 model year,the L65 is a 350/2 bbl 250 hp, the M38 is a turbo 350 trans., hope this helps..

I know it is a true 69 SS by the 69 13637 Sorry to say its not a SS as evidenced by the option code L65 which is a 350 V8 engine with 2 bbl carb. An SS had a big block in 1969, a 396.

If you doubt that, you can obtain documentation from Vintage Vehicle Services (http://www.chevelles.com/vvs/index.html) and know the whole story..

Doesnt sound like an SS, I thought the canadian cowl tag showed the Z15 conversion.

Boy do I feel like a fool, I checked with Vintage Vehicle Service and found out it was not a SS, and in fact was a 350 250 HP 2bbl, and to make matters worse it was a Avis Rental car.

Now I wander what engine it has, the number stamped on the block is T0804TBG, any help?

TBG prefix code

1970 Chevrolet Truck TBG 396-402 310 T.H. 400 4bbl

1971 Chevrolet Truck TBG 350 255 T.H. 350 4bbl

It is a Big Block engine so it must be the 1970 396.
