In the book "Chevrolet by the Numbers," for 1966 Chevelle SS cars, code 797 indicates Interior Trim color as "White (Black)". I assume that this means that part of the interior was white while other parts were black. Is that correct, or is it a code that could apply to cars with white or black interiors? (The book lists a separate code, 763, for black interiors.)

If it means that the cars came with some white and black parts, does anyone know which parts should be white and which black? One possibility is that the carpet and dask pad were black, while the seats and door panels were black. Or were only the seats white?

Thanks for your help,
David

I am by no means a 66 expert, but I would assume the seats and door panels where White. Everything else would probably be Black. Not sure about the headliner and pillar posts. I'm sure a 66 guru will be more precise for you.

Here's a couple pics of 797 trim coded 66s. (http://www.chevellestuff.com/66velle/interiors/797.htm) Seats and center portion of door panels are white. Not 100% sure about the headliner, but the sails are white and I'd assume the headliner would be as well.

You just never know what photos are going to help someone answer a question down the road. Glad they helped.

My book shows 797 as everything white with black carpets for 1966.
