You did fine.... what you have is a REAL 66 SS by virtue of the 138176 VIN ( All 66 and 67 SS start with 13817 in hardtop version ) the "6" is model year. "A" is for the assembly plant which here is ATLANTA.

18276 is not any specific code to tell you about your car or it's components...

763 = Black Bucket seat interior and the "B" is just a redundant code for Bucket seat also

KK = Artesian Turquoise Body Paint

Option Code "W" = TINTED WINDSHIELD ONLY

2 = OPTION GRP # 2 AND WITHIN THAT "M' = POWERGLIDE AUTO TRANS

5 = OPTION GRP # 5 AND WITHIN THAT "Y" = DELUXE SEAT BELTS.

Enjoy your 66 SS, nice rare color!

Mike thanks again I knew you guys would have no problem with that. I have had the car for two years, it is presently tuxedo black with a four speed which probly explains why at 55 it is screeming in 4th gear or the rear end is just too big. But thanks graemlins/thumbsup.gif again. Den's 396 aces member#6269

Unless somebody changed the gear set, both the manual and automatic 325hp came with 3.31 and the 360hp came with 3.73 gears. Actually, with the manual trans it should be turning less RPMs at a given speed than the automatic due to less slippage. With 3.31s and factory size tires, it should be turning about 2400 at 55 and with 3.73s about 2700.

Dale's right on with the ratios. FWIW a legit factory option even with the 325 horse 396 and Powerglide was a 4.10 gearset (Positraction only).
Mike has the options pegged as well.
Nice car!

lest we forget, that didn't mean the car could not have been optioned with other gear ratios... lots of options ;)
