snowtrav Oct 17th, 04, 8:09 PM I have a tough one, I picked up a 12 bolt posi housing with the Casting number R8 0303K. I can't find anything on this number the person i bought it from told me it came out of a 68 chevelle and it does fit in my 69 chevelle.Any ideas. Thanks elcamino Oct 18th, 04, 6:35 AM R8 0303K is a casting number?? Casting numbers are raised digits there from when the part was cast in the foundry. Stamped numbers are what these appear to be. Stamped means, impressions into the metal after assemby. If this is stamped on the axle tube, outboard of the carrier facing the front of vehicle and the 8 is a B, then: RB 0303 K I can find RB - 2.93 ratio 12 bolt from 1973-74 Buick (full size car), 9-3/8" ring gear stamped 41-14. 03 - Day 03 - March K - GM of Canada, St Catherines This is the only application I can find for a 12 bolt cover, many RB in the 10 bolt cover fitting 80-83 GM models. snowtrav Oct 18th, 04, 7:46 AM Your right the number is the axle stamped code and it is R8 not RB.
