I thought I got all the wiring right, replaced the hot battery wire, and used the old black that had been used for the positive side and moved it to the neg side and put new battery terminal connector on neg. Put new battery in and car started up and ran pretty good. About 10 minutes into my ride, I am at a red light and the car stahls. (engine temp around 200) I rev it up until light goes green and pull into the store at the corner (my destination anyway). go in for 10 minutes, then come out and car starts right up. Drive for about 10 minutes, and car dies. wont restart for about 5 minutes, then starts out rough. I happen to have pulled into an autozone parking lot, so I had the guy test the charging system. It started right up and ran smooth while he tested it. But he said charging system was only putting out 12.5 volts. That shouldnt be low enough to kill the engine while driving if the battery is still strong enough to start the car is it?
I am leaning towards the orange radio wire that I connected directly to the fuse box where the terminal says "ignition" . While waiting for the guy to come out, I disconnected that and it ran fine for the next 15 minutes while I drove home. Any thoughts?

I tried to start the car again today, and it will not run for more than 2 seconds. It only seems to run while I am holding the peddle down, then when I let up a little it dies. After a few times of this I noticed the starter was starting to engage longer then it should. I might have to sell this thing.

Couldn't this be a fuel or ignition problem just as easily as a charging/starting system problem?

In fact, except for only having 12.5 volts while running--I'd say it's MORE likely to be a fuel or ignition problem.

I think I might have a fuel problem. The clear filter is full of fuel, but the only time it tries to start is with the peddle held to the floor.

I had a mechanic look at it today, and it turns out the coil is bad.
